Many people prepare for Thanksgiving and Christmas with shopping, decorating and entertaining guests on their minds. It is a time to express just how thankful they are for a lot of things in life.
This is also the best time to spend some quality and fun time with family, particularly with your kids. There are a million ideas of fun activities parents can have with their children, and one broad idea is room decorations! If your child is just a toddler, then there is a good chance you will have to guide your child with some of the initial projects. Here are a few ideas for you to consider when making decorations to the baby room.
A Christmas Tree
There is no better way to teach your child the holiday spirit than helping them make a Christmas tree. You will have a great time with your toddler trying to create something amazing for his room décor this season.
Just to clarify, I don’t mean a legitimate Christmas tree; I mean some sort of art and craft. Trace out a Christmas tree on a piece of paper of any size. You can always make one big one or several small ones! Next you add whatever decorations you desire to the tree. Voila! You have a Christmas tree.
If you want to teach some values with this craft, then let your kid write or draw anything that they are thankful for next to the tree.
Coffee Filter Art works
This is another great way to teach your child how to express themselves with painting and the result is an amazing piece that can be used as a Thanksgiving décor for the kid’s room.
What you need for this are different colors of paints, a salad spinner, water in a small bowl and coffee filters.
Let the coffee filter sit on the salad spinner. Add some paint in the water, then switch it around to let it blend well. Pour it on the coffee filter.
Push the spinner button and let the paint fly. Repeat this with a few more colors.
You can try as many of these coffee filter art works, and then set them out to dry.
These can be used to create different types of Thanksgiving décor for the child’s room, for instance a Thanksgiving turkey. Your turkey will end up with great looking and natural feathers that have been created by the baby.
You can make Thanksgiving or Christmas cards with your baby, each with different messages, for the baby’s room. Start with a happy Thanksgiving card for instance, which is very easy to make. Take a cardstock for instance and line it up with a clear white paper. Dip your baby’s thumb in a color of your choice to make a thumbprint, which will be the head and body of a turkey.
Use a pen or marker to finish off the eyes, ears, and nose, mouth and legs details of the turkey. Dip the tips of his fingers in a different color to make the feathers of the turkey. When the turkey is done, write a Thanksgiving message clearly and let the baby leave it on his dresser.
Baby’s Room Pom-Poms
These are amazing, and they are slowly becoming popular as nursery decors for many parents for different seasons, including Christmas and Thanksgiving. You do not need to buy some this Christmas, when you can make your own, together with your child, in order to give his room a great look and feel.
What you need for this are tissue papers of different colors, a fishing line and a floral wire.
Make a pile of one color of tissue paper, and then fold it really well, bearing in mind what its folds will be the pom poms. Do as many of these as you need for your decoration.
Lock a piece of floral wire around the center of every folded tissue paper, without creasing the paper.
Fasten a piece of fishing line to the floral wire, for hanging.
Make a round cut on every end of your folded tissue paper in order to create the outline of your pom-poms.
Finally, separate the tissue layers in order to create the finished pom poms.
In order to get amazing results with this, ensure that you pick sticking colors when buying tissue papers. Again, make foldings of different sizes in order to have pom poms of different sizes in the end.
