After reading some of my favorite personal finance blogs, I noticed a trend…Everyone had income reports!
I really enjoy reading these articles as they inspire me to grow my blog – and in turn – my side hustle income. Other blogger’s income reports give me ideas on affiliate offers I can run and other ways that I can make money.
Aside from my day job and my daughter, I have been dedicating tons of time to my blog and my side hustles. I have started freelance writing to help increase my income and I have really enjoyed it! I also have started a few niche sites using my minor knowledge of SEO and a few have started to make some money. Woohoo!
For my first report, my income was modest. I am still new to this game and have had to climb over some roadblocks along the way! I am loving blogging though and I am making some money, so I’ll count it as a win!
Note: This income does not include my day job. This is only my side hustle income.
In August, I made:
While this isn’t much, it has definitely helped me pay some bills and take my daughter on some extra adventures. Here is how I made my money:
MPF Affiliates: $362
Other Sites: $120
Seems vague, right? Don’t worry I’ll go into each a little more in-depth below.
On Millennial Personal Finance, I was able to make $362 in August. A lot of this comes from Amazon affiliate offers on some of my more popular pages. Aside from this, I also have a few other unique partnerships that generated some cash last month.
I am hoping to start adding some more affiliate offers to my site. I want to be careful to choose ones that I actually support, however, so it might take a while for me to choose them. If you have any recommendations, I would love to hear about your favorites!
This month was my first month freelance writing. I think I am a decent writer so I tested my skills using Upwork. Though I didn’t have too much time for extra writing, I was able to land a few clients and made a little over $100. I hope to increase my writing in September. I found the best time to do this is late night when I put my daughter to sleep and have some peace and quiet.
Aside from MPF, I have started a few niche sites that generate income using Amazon affiliate offers. I don’t want to reveal these specific sites, just yet, or how I generate traffic and make money from them, but keep an eye out for more secrets and tips in future income reports!
Goals for September
I have always been big on goals, both personally and professionally, so I figured why not bring this to my blog and my other side hustles! I think goals help keep me on track as well as help me monitor my growth and push me to stay motivated. Here are my goals for this month:
- Make at least $1,000 from all side hustles combined
- Find at least 3 clients to consistently write for
- Create at least 2 new niche websites
This month I am hoping to eclipse the $1,000 mark with all of my side hustles collectively. Though it will be a 44% increase, I think I can do it! As I continue to increase the traffic to my site, I think my affiliate income will increase.
My $1,000 goal will become much more viable if I am able to achieve my second goal of finding 3 consistent freelance writing clients. I think I can make much more than I did last month and I am excited to see where this goes.
I am excited to see where my side hustles go over the coming months – especially MPF! If you have any suggestions, I would love to hear about what you have found to work on your site. If you have any comments or questions, feel free to contact me or comment below!
