Millennial Personal Finance was founded by Amanda Reaume in 2014. I purchased the site from Amanda in 2016. Let me tell you why…
My name is David Chen.
I am an engineer, a personal finance enthusiast, an avid skier, and – above all else – a single father of a beautiful girl named Leila.
Though I have a great job, I am always looking for ways to save money and create a passive income for myself. I purchased this blog to help me achieve my dream of being able to take weeks, months, or even years off of work to spend time with my family and doing what I love.
Though I do not work in the finance industry, I do have tons of experience dealing with money, budgeting, and planning for the future.
My passion for personal finance started when I graduated from college with $68,000 in student loan debt. You see, my parents recently moved to the United States, and were not able to help much with my college costs. Like too many other young adults nowadays, I had to take on student loan debt to help fund my education.
Though I am still in repayment, I have figured out tons of strategies with my student loan debt, many of which will have helped me save thousands by the time my loans are finally paid off.
Aside from creating a source of passive income for myself, this blog will share my story of destroying my debt, working through the challenges of raising a child alone, and working to create a financially stable prosperous life for myself and my family.
